Though Taylor Swift left the 67th Grammy Awards in Los Angeles empty-handed last night (after being nominated for six awards), her all-red monochromatic look of the evening left us absolutely speechless, thanks in part to the Casadei Cappa Blade Stratosphere heels that elongated her legs. Swift also donned an asymmetrical Vivienne Westwood couture dress, Lorraine Schwartz jewelry, and her signature lip.
While you might not be able to take home those beautiful jewels, the striking Casadei heels are currently 50 percent off on the brand’s site. No, you’re not dreaming: Many celebrities’ red carpet looks and custom footwear during the Grammy Awards this year are utterly unattainable, but you can actually achieve Swift’s aesthetic-of-choice for the night (which, dare we suggest, was inspired by the Chiefs’ team color?).
Casadei’s Cappa Blade Stratosphere Sandals feature thin straps decked out in crystal embellishments, a fierce 12-centimeter blade heel, and an oh-so-soft suede material. The Italian-made shoes also have adjustable ankle straps for a perfect fit. For those who are too timid to go bold in red, Casadei offers the shoes in the Jet Ematite and Black hue — also crafted out of suede and boasting crystal embellishments that dazzle.
Casadei was founded in 1958 by the Italian couple Quinto and Flora Casadei, with the initial mission of selling sandals meant for holidays on the Italian Riviera. Currently, Casadei is helmed by Quinto and Flora’s son, Cesare, who serves as the brand’s creative director — envisioning and executing designs for not only footwear but also sculptural, high-quality bags. Swift, as it turns out, isn’t Casadei’s only celebrity fan. In fact, Eva Longoria, Aubrey Plaza, Idina Menzel, and Olivia Wilde have all flaunted its fashion-forward heels at one point.
Swift’s outfit last night generated much buzz, specifically because it seemed to contain many Easter eggs (which the star is known for peppering into everything from her lyrics to her social media posts and music videos). People, for instance, are speculating that the “T” rosary charm around her leg was an ode to her present boyfriend Travis Kelce: specifically because one of her songs, “Guilty as Sin,” bears the lyric “What if he’s written ‘mine’ on my upper thigh.” Her hue of the evening itself — an unabashedly bold red — is believed to have been related to her album “Red” (particularly the re-recorded, reclaimed version she released in 2021).
Swift’s choice of footwear for the 67th Grammy Awards was a masterful one, given the fact that the red sandals from Casadei were simple yet sexy: accentuating her long gams while pairing seamlessly with the draped corseted bodice of her Vivienne Westwood dress. The whole ensemble (formulated by Swift’s stylist Joseph Cassell Falconer) is ripe with Valentine’s Day inspiration — especially when considering the fact that you can ring in February 14 wearing her exact shoes, for half the retail price.
The news isn’t all good, as the heels are almost fully sold out in most sizes and retail for $525 despite the discount. We did some digging, however, and found alternative footwear that’s also more than 50 percent off today, with the much more affordable price tag of $59.97. These are the Adriane Jeweled Strap Sandals from Jewel Badgley Mischka, with crystal adornments, a similarly red colorway, and a heel length clocking in at a little over nine centimeters. The budget-conscious counterpart also comes in a variety of color options, including Silver, Champagne, and Steel Blue (besides the red that Swift would no doubt approve of most).
If you want to match the “Fortnight” singer precisely, though, and are dying to grab the Casadei sandals for yourself, we recommend doing so sooner rather than later. Inventory is running very low, so don’t wait too long to step into her shoes this Valentine’s Day.
