Dr. Martens Embraces Western Style With Gothic Americana Collection

As the grunge trend has become more popular in recent years, Dr. Martens has gained popularity for its bulky, dark silhouettes and they are embracing this recognition with their latest Gothic Americana collection.
The brand’s sets are a fan favorite among stars like Olivia Rodrigo, Willow Smith and Tia Mowry because of their ability to complete a grunge look. However, last month, Dr. Martens decided to insert themselves into another trend with their Gothic Americana collection. The seven piece line infuses 80s Gothic subculture with country styling. Their classic black leather silhouettes like the Chelsea boots have been reimagined with Western accents like contrast white stitch designs and gunmetal hardware.
The collection includes six pairs of footwear including a crossbody bag and 3 boot styles, 2 loafer styles and a mule. Every piece is made with lightweight Wanama leather for an easy break-in. All pairs are designed with white Xs that line the upper, aside from the 1460 Contrast Stitch Leather Lace Up Boots which is instead designed with a white linear stitching that hugs the sides of the lace up closure. The brand’s infamous yellow stitching around the thick sole is replaced with a white one. Each style is unique but true to the aesthetic like the single ornate buckle on the Monk Strap Quad Contrast Stitch Platform Shoes and the tassel on the Adrian Contrast Stitch Leather Tassel Loafers.

Just before this collection launched, the footwear brand partnered with Danish brand Ganni to reinvent their popular Jadon boot silhouette. The set was crafted with extra tough black nylon and Retailing for $314.67, the new and improved Jadon boot is crafted and recycled polyester laces to recognize Ganni’s use of alternative materials.
Dr. Martens’ Gothic Americana collection is now available on their website and in select stores nationwide. The entire line ranges from $100- $250.
