A reseller known for procuring rare, hard-to-find and in some cases, never-before-seen sneakers has been on a hot streak recently after sharing a number of incredibly limited Nike and Air Jordan sneakers.
Seller @depeche23mode, whose real name is Simon Voltaire Tan, has spent much of the last two months acquiring some of the rarest pairs ever seen on social media. Tan has shared unreleased Off-White x Air Jordan 4s, Air Jordan 11s made for Prince, Nike Air Yeezy samples, Louis Vuitton x Nike Air Force 1s and more. But of all the hard-to-find styles Tan has shared, one of the most unique is an unreleased Travis Scott x Air Jordan 4 colorway in a staggeringly small size.
The Travis Scott x Air Jordan 4 “Dark Mocha” sample was produced in several variations, with this particular iteration featuring a “Dark Mocha/Sail/Cool Gray/Varsity Red” color combination. Separating the style from other sample variations is its black midsole and darker shade of mocha used on the nubuck upper. But what really makes the unworn pair one-of-a-kind is its size, which is a grade school 3.5.
Tan’s listing for the sneakers on both social media and eBay includes the name “Kardashian,” which has led commenters to speculate that the small-sized sneakers were created for Kylie Jenner, who dated Travis Scott for several years and was spotted in 2018 wearing another iteration of the unreleased style.
However, in 2016, Jenner said she wore a size 8, which converts to a men’s 6.5 based on Nike’s size chart. Instead, what’s more likely is that the pair was produced with the intention of gifting it to the former couple’s first daughter, Stormi — if there is in fact a Kardashian connection at all.
As for the source of Tan’s flood of ultra-rare footwear, many are speculating that the bulk of the shoes came from the collection of rapper Fat Joe. Many of the hard-to-find pairs showcased by Tan over the last two months were also shared in recent years by Fat Joe, so it makes sense that followers have connected the dots between a potential link between the two parties.
Along with dozens of other scarce sneakers, the 3.5 “Dark Mocha” Travis Scott x Air Jordan 4 is currently available from Tan’s eBay store for an asking price of $7,700.
