Salehe Bembury’s Next New Balance Sneaker Is Quieter Than Usual — and Carries a $275 Price Tag

The designers Made in UK 1500 should release soon.

Salehe Bembury and New Balance are deviating from their usual script for their next collaboration.

Whereas Bembury typically gets out in front of leaks by teasing his sneakers early, the Salehe Bembury x New Balance Made in UK 1500 has surfaced by way of A Ma Maniére’s EQL page. And it isn’t just the rollout that differs either; the colorway on Bembury’s 1500 is much more muted than what is typically seen on his heavily thematic collaborations.

Premium materials with a tasteful color scheme seems to be the focus for the forthcoming sneaker, which will carry a $275 price tag because of its Made in UK construction. Grey mesh and nubuck form the base of the upper, while it’s overlays are rendered in a a khaki suede. The sole unit adds small hits of purple, orange, and blue — but the only real flourish to denote Bembury’s involvement is his name embroidered in yellow on the tongue above the typical New Balance mark. Aside from that, the sneaker looks much more like a general release.

The 1500 made its debut in 1989 and was designed by Steven Smith, who just recently joined Crocs after a long stint working for Yeezy. Three different iterations of the shoe were made for running, basketball, and tennis — and the original marketing run touted the six materials used for the midsole as well as the involvement of MIT professors in the development.

Today, the 1500 is a fixture of New Balance’s Made in UK line and recently got a Made in Japan edition with a $500 price tag.

The Salehe Bembury x New Balance Made in UK 1500 doesn’t yet have a firm release date but will likely drop before the end of the month for $275. Footwear News will keep you up to date as any new information arises.
