Under Armour will soon release cleats dressed in gold, a collection it titled “Golden Child.” However, before consumers can buy a pair, the Notre Dame will wear them against Ohio State in the 2025 College Football Playoff National Championship.

The Baltimore-based athletic brand stated the “Golden Child” collection was made for “those who dominate on the field and shine off it” and embodies “the confidence and culture of a true football kid.” Breaking down the range further, Under Armour stated it was inspired by “the opulence of chains, grills and jewelry.”

The statement-making “Golden Child” collection includes three Under Armour styles for men: the UA Blur Pro, the UA Spotlight Pro and the UA Highlight.

The UA Blur Pro, the brand explained, are its fastest cleats and are inspired by track spikes. The look is built with lightweight and breathable UA IntelliKnit uppers with stretch and support, as well as UA Hovr drop-in midsoles for energy return and comfort and a new biomechanical plate design for speed and agility.

The UA Spotlight Pro, according to Under Armour, was built for players “with moves on top of moves” and need to “start, stop and cut faster.” And the UA Highlight, Under Armour explained, features a super-high cut and was built with support in mind.

Under Armour confirmed with FN via email that it has moved up its “Golden Child” cleats and the range will release on March 1 via UA.com, in Under Armour brand house stores and at Dick’s Sporting Goods.

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish will face the Ohio State Buckeyes on Jan. 20 in the 2025 College Football Playoff National Championship. It will take place at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta and will air live via ESPN at 7:30 p.m. ET.
