Nearly two years after they first surfaced, Kobe Bryant‘s Los Angeles Dodgers sneakers are finally set to release.
The Nike Kobe 6 Protro “Dodgers,” officially called “Game Royal,” will release this weekend exclusively through Undefeated. Natalia Bryant, Kobe’s daughter, debuted the sneakers while throwing the opening pitch for the Dodgers in 2023. Pairs were then given to Dodgers players by Bryant’s widow, Vanessa, last year for “Mamba Day,” which is the anniversary of Kobe’s 60-point performance in his final NBA game.
No Dodgers logo appears on the Kobe 6 Protro, but it’s dressed in the team’s colors of blue, white and red. Red stitching like that found on a baseball has been added to the top of the tongue, while Kobe’s no. 8 now appears on the shoe’s lateral heel.
A larger collection of baseball gear to accompany the sneakers will include batter’s gloves, a catcher’s set, sliding mitt, baseball jersey and slides.
Kobe was known as a Dodgers after making Los Angeles his home, and the later player’s family has continued to have close ties to the team after his passing, throwing out the first pitch on several occasions.
The Dodgers are just two weeks away from Opening Day as they seek to defend their World Series title.
Undefeated, which is based on Los Angeles and has collaborated on Nike Kobe sneakers several times, is a natural choice as the exclusive stockist. You won’t have to live in LA, however, to have a chance at a pair.
The Nike Kobe 6 Protro “Dodgers” will release Saturday, March 15, through Undefeated’s website, as well as its locations in Los Angeles’ La Brea neighborhood and Tokyo’s Shibuya. Details are still to come for the digital raffle, but entries should open Friday. Pricing is set at $190.
A source from Nike also confirmed the sneaker will release through its channels and additional retailers later in the spring.
