Alyx Founder Matthew M Williams and Nike Made a Running Sneaker Specifically for Treadmills
1017 Alyx 9SM founder Matthew M Williams has turned his eyes to the treadmill for the latest chapter of his Nike MMW line.
The two partners are launching the Nike MMW 6 Trd Run, a shoe specifically designed for treadmill runners. Arriving in sleek all-black and all-grey colorways, the model puts a full-length carbon fiber plate, React foam and a forefoot Airbag together. A “highly breathable” Flyknit upper comes with notched laces that won’t come untied easily, and the outsole’s tread pattern is optimized for a treadmill’s rubber belt.
The MMW 6 Trd Run’s tech is pulled from both the high and lower end of Nike’s running line up. Carbon fiber plates are one of the core elements of super shoes, e.g. Nike’s record-breaking Alphafly 3, while React is typically applied more in its everyday running lineup.

Williams has collaborated with Nike both as an individual and through his label. Whereas the Alyx collaborations have essentially brought small tweaks and brand signatures to existing silhouettes, the MMW line is known for more far-out, forward-thinking creations exclusive to the partnership such as the modular Free TR 3 SP, Zoom MMW 004 running shoe that looks like it’s from “Mad Max”, and the stabilized MM005 Slide with drainage holes.
The MMW Nike Zoom 6 Trd Run will release May 9 exclusively through Alyx’s website. Pricing has not yet been announced, but based on past releases will likely cost at least $300.
