LeBron James and Bronny James shared the court Sunday night, as their preseason game made them the first father-son duo to play together in the NBA.
For the historic occasion, the elder James wore an unreleased pair of the Nike LeBron 21 while his son wore an all-red edition of the Nike LeBron NxxT Gen.
LeBron’s sneakers were predominantly black and featured purple detailing including the outsole, as well as a white outlined Swoosh. The LeBron 21 is the latest iteration of his signature line but should soon be supplanted by the LeBron 22.
Bronny has already been known to favor the LeBron Nxxt Gen, a takedown model for LeBron’s signature line available at a lower price point, early on in his NBA career. The all-red edition he wore last night is similar to another colorway discounted now on Nike’s website for $124.
LeBron put up 19 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 blocks in 16 minutes of play for the Los Angeles Lakers’ loss to the Phoenix Suns. Coming off the bench to play 13 minutes, Bronny was held scoreless on just a single shot attempt while contributing 2 rebounds.
Nike launched LeBron’s first training shoe, the LeBron TR1, in September with a total of four colorways confirmed to release through November. The LeBron 22 should also launch soon, as its predecessor got its debut release in September 2023.
The Lakers’ next preason game will take them to Milwaukee Thursday night to face off against the Bucks, and the team’s will begin the regular season October 22 by hosting the Minnesota Timberwolves.
