Montreal design studio JJJJound and Asics are teaming back up again to release a new colorway of their popular Gel-Kayano 14 collaboration, but they didn’t stop there.
JJJJound previewed Monday an Asics Gel-Kayano 14 collaboration which appears to use the model’s popular synthetic silver and white mesh build. The key addition to the JJJJound iteration appears to be a light North Carolina-like blue which fills in the Kayano 14’s visible Gel cushioning, liner and other components. Only a small portion of the sneaker can be seen in the teaser, but like the brand’s previous work on the Gel-Kayano 14, there’s also “JJJJound” branding printed at the heel.
While it’s not surprising the two parties would revisit their popular Gel-Kayano 14 collaboration from 2022 — pairs of which consistently command a near-$1,000 resale value — JJJJound delivered an unexpected follow-up on Tuesday. Further teasing its upcoming spring 2025 collaboration with Asics, JJJJound revealed a look at what appears to be a new silhouette from the two brands.
The unnamed sneaker uses components of the Asics Gel-Quantum 360 line, namely the segmented Gel midsole seen on models such as the Gel-Quantum 360 Knit 2. Unlike previously released sneakers from the Gel-Quantum 360 range, this new model forgoes Asics’ Stripes branding in favor of a new linear pattern. A white base is contrasted by cream Gel cushioning and overlays at the heel.
Of all the coveted Asics Gel-Kayano 14s that have been released in recent years, JJJJound’s original colorways from ’22 remain some of the most valuable on the secondary market, eclipsed only by designer Kiko Kostadinov’s UB1-S styles.
Despite these new teasers, a release date and further details for the upcoming JJJJound x Asics spring ’25 collaboration were not announced, however more information is expected soon.
