Montreal-based skate shop Dime is bringing a subtle twist to the Adidas Stan Smith.

At first glance, the Dime x Adidas Stan Smith may appear to be just like the model’s classic white and green colorway. Dime brings a debossed wavy grid pattern to the shoe’s white leather upper, while the green mustache is rendered in patent leather with mismatched gold branding putting the trefoil on the left shoe and Dime’s name on the right.

Stan Smith’s face on the tongue logo has also been replaced by a depiction of the botched restoration of the “Ecce Homo” fresco that went viral in 2012. Dime adopted the farce for its own apparel before bringing it to a couple of Reebok sneaker collaborations and now its Stan Smith.

Dime and Adidas just began collaborating in 2023, beginning with a Superstar ADV capsule that released just over a year ago. They’ve been fast partners ever since, following up with collaborating on the Busenitz Vulc 2 and ADI2000 skate shoes.

The documentary “Who Is Stan Smith?” hit theaters this year and tells the story of the tennis star beyond his namesake sneakers. The Stan Smith originally released in 1965 and were named for the French player Robbert Haillet. 13 years later, the sneakers were renamed for Smith. Smith actually wore the shoe for a number of years before it officially became his own, and for a time the tongue featured both his portrait and Haillet’s name.

The Dime x Adidas Stan Smith will release July 1, with BSTN being the only stockist confirmed so far. Pricing is set at $120.
