Montreal-based streetwear brand Dime is showing the power that can be contained in small changes for its next Adidas collaboration.
The Dime x Adidas Gazelle sees its stripes rendered in pyramid studs to give the silhouette a newfound punk look. Rather than the standard gold embossing, Dime’s takeover for the lateral branding appears in silver to match the studs and an additional appearance on one of the two mismatched mustaches.
The two colorways, black and maroon, are also rendered in smooth leather instead of the Gazelle’s usual suede build, giving the sneaker a greater simultaneous sense of edge and refinement. Black patent leather also ups the gloss for the mustaches of both colorways.
Dime usually takes a “less is more” approach for its Adidas collaborations, having turned the Stan Smith’s tongue tag into, essentially, a meme for a collaboration last year while once again adding patent leather to the mustache. The year earlier, the Canadian skate enthusiasts went a step further by using patent leather for the stripes on the Superstar as well.
The Dime x Adidas Gazelle will release in both colorways March 1, likely through Dime and Adidas’ websites, as well as select third party retailers. Pricing is set at $110.
