The latest super trainer to enter the ultracompetitive running market was made in Italy.
Available now is Diadora’s tech-loaded Atomo Star super trainer. Diadora‘s latest running innovation was designed, tested and produced in Manovia, the brand’s in-house footwear workshop in Italy.
“We have meticulously crafted the Atomo Star to be unlike any other running shoe on the market,” Diadora USA president and chief executive officer Bryan Poerner said in a statement. “This shoe seamlessly combines durability, function and peak performance by leveraging our most advanced technologies and superlative Italian craftsmanship. It provides athletes with a snappy, responsive and highly-cushioned option for everything from long runs, to tempo runs, to a non-plated race-day shoe.”
Aesthetically, Diadora explained that the Atomo Star was inspired by its Mythos Star 2 retro running shoe, which was one of its most successful models to date. Also, the brand stated the Atomo Star’s components were meticulously chosen “to enhance the running experience with a focus on appealing to low-drop enthusiasts that prefer a lighter shoe with maximum comfort and responsiveness, without compromising on cushioning.”
The midsoles are the highlight of the Diadora Atomo Star, which feature the brand’s Anima N2 supercritical foam compound. Diadora explained the compound offers the wearer “an ideal combination of lightness, cushioning and energy return,” making it “perfect for long runs where maximum comfort is essential and with enhanced responsiveness for harder efforts and faster paces.” Diadora also stated Anima N2 gives the shoe a reactivity of 72 percent, which is an increase of 40 percent and a weight reduction of 40 percent compared its Light EVA compound. There is a 6 millimeter drop in the midsole, with 34 millimeters at the forefoot and 40 millimeters at the heel.
Aside from the midsoles, the Atomo Star features uppers made from Diadora’s breathable double-layered Air Mesh with an integrated Unitongue construction that the brand explained incorporates the tongue to the inner layer. Also, the shoe was built with Diadora’s Duratech 5000 high abrasion resistance outsoles.
The Diadora Atomo Star the most reliable daily trainer retails for $240 and can be purchased via Diadora.com.
