It may not quite be the Air Jordan 4, but one of Jordan Brand’s latest Air Jordan 4 RMs is nearly a dead ringer for the original sneaker’s “Bred” (aka “Black Cement”) colorway.
For fans of the iconic “Bred” Air Jordan 4 look, this may be as close as you’ll come to the look without venturing to the aftermarket to track down a previous release. The upcoming Air Jordan 4 RM in “Black/Varsity Red/Wolf Gray/White” borrows the color blocking of Michael Jordan’s iconic fourth signature sneaker right down to the styling of the midsole.
The Air Jordan 4 RM’s black, gray, red and white design looks as though it’s been lifted directly from a pair of “Bred” Air Jordan 4s, although the upper does bear some differences in addition to its revamped construction. It’s mostly black — there’s none of the gray accenting found on the original Air Jordan 4 — and its leather base has more in common with 2024’s “Bred Reimagined” release than it does the typical build.
Other key changes found on the Air Jordan 4 RM include a lower ankle cut, more structural TPU caging and the addition of more durable materials such as ballistic nylon. The model is intended to make the retro basketball sneaker, which was originally released in 1989, better equipped for action sports like biking. It debuted through collaborations with BMX pro Nigel Sylvester, who this year released his own “Brick by Brick” Air Jordan 4.
This isn’t the first time black-and-red coloring has been applied to the Air Jordan 4 RM — a different style is currently discounted at many retailers now — but it is the closest it’s come to resembling Jordan’s original pair.
Readers can anticipate this Air Jordan 4 RM “Bred” to arrive from nike.com and select Jordan Brand retailers this summer for a retail price of $150. The upcoming style has a SKU of FQ7939-061.
