Earlier in February, the Air Jordan 1 Low “Royal” quietly hit select international boutiques. Its fate for a release through Nike had remained unclear, but now the emergence of official images suggests a Snkrs drop is imminent.
As one of the original Air Jordan 1 High colorways from 1985, “Royal” has appeared on the low-top just one other time, in 2015. The color blocking is the same as the “Bred” edition, just with royal blue replacing red on the vamp, Swoosh and heel. Black is then used for the rest of the upper, and a white midsole appears above a blue outsole.
Reports first surfaced on the return of Air Jordan 1 Low “Royal” last year, only for the release being said to have scrapped. It then indeed went forward through non-Nike channels, making for an unusual launch process.
“Royal” isn’t to be confused “Game Royal,” another colorway that isn’t an original but features an arrangement of colors that matches the “Chicago” edition, one again with royal blue replacing red.
While a good number of colorways graced the Air Jordan 1 High in its original run in 1985 and 1986, only one version of the Air Jordan 1 Low dropped then. It came dressed predominantly in white, with grey used for the Swoosh, mustache and outsole.
A firm release date for the Air Jordan 1 Low “Royal” still hasn’t been confirmed, but you can likely expect it to release on the Snkrs app and select additional retailers soon. Pricing is set at $160.
