Adidas’ foray into thin-soled, ballet-style sneakers is continuing with a remix of one of the brand’s most timeless shoes.

Dubbed the Adidas Stan Smith Low Pro, the newly refreshed model updates the 1960s tennis shoe with a new construction. The most obvious change is its rubber sole, which has been trimmed down to just millimeters. The low-profile look is complimented by a deconstructed leather upper, which gives the entire shoe a slimmed-down aesthetic.

Debuting in tonal “Footwear White” and “Core Black” colorways, the Adidas Stan Smith Low Pro is completely devoid of color, with its stamped tongue, heel and insole branding matching the monotone look. And the shoe’s leather build is even carried over to the insole, giving the Stan Smith Low Pro a decidedly premium edge.

With thin-soled sneakers trending in recent months, Adidas was an early adopter. The brand tapped Bad Bunny for a Ballerina collaboration which was debuted by the Puerto Rican superstar last summer. Other flat-soled Adidas models such as the Taekwondo and Tokyo have also been generating buzz on social media.

As for the Stan Smith itself, the model has taken somewhat of a backseat in recent years while shoes like the Samba and Gazelle have taken the spotlight. This slim-soled variation of the Stan Smith may be an attempt to cross-pollinate the two demographics.

Despite the bevy of detailed product images seen here, a firm release date for the Adidas Stan Smith Low Pro has not been established. Similarly, retail pricing has not yet been confirmed. Readers can expect both colorways below to launch in the coming months from adidas.com and select Adidas Originals retailers.
