It’s official: The leopard print midi skirt is the skirt of the summer.
While the jungle-patterned trend has been circulating for a while, the leopard print skirt has exploded in the last week thanks to @leopardmidiskirt, a hilarious Instagram account documenting the movement taking over New York City streets. The account was started by Rilka Noel, a 23-year-old who works at Kith.

After seeing the skirt on the streets, Noel decided to document the trend she was spotting in the wild by making an Instagram dedicated to the skirt. Since then, fashion news outlets have been declaring the leopard frock to be the ultimate summer staple for 2019.
Style experts have traced the trend back to Realisation Par’s The Naomi skirt, which was released last summer. Since then, fast-fashion brands have created their own version of the leopard print midi skirt, pushing the trend even further into the spotlight.
