Exclusive: Lil Nas X’s Cats & Height-Boosting Shoes Inspired His First Crocs Collaboration

Crocs and Lil Nas X are taking their partnership to fluffy new heights, thanks to their debut collaboration. The rapper — first named a Crocs ambassador in June — has just released his own shearling-covered version of the brand’s Mega Crush clogs.
“I love to add a little height with anything I do, especially in my shoes, so the Mega Crush clog was the perfect shoe to work with for the collection,” Lil Nas X exclusively tells FN. “We played around with a lot of different colors and textures, but the brown sherpa fur is definitely my favorite and is perfect for winter. I like that we pushed the boundaries a little bit with this — it’s something different than the classic Croc.”

When it came to designing his collaboration, Lil Nas X focused on his admiration of Crocs’ comfort-focused shoes — plus his two cats, Desani and Zephard, who inspired a five-pack of Jibbitz charms shaped like feline whiskers.
“I’ve been a Crocs fan for a while now, so when they approached me about working together and giving me creative freedom to design a collab, I knew I could have a lot of fun with it and that we could create something really dope together,” the musician said. “[Desani and Zephard are] with me a lot of the time, but now even when they can’t be, they’re representing and can be close to me through the Jibbitz charms on my Crocs.”
Lil Nas X’s punchy Mega Crush clog comes as no surprise, given his flair for bold dressing; in fact, he shares the fluffy style can be worn for any occasion.
“These furry Crocs definitely have a cozy and warm feeling to them, so I’d probably pair these with everyday wear like a hoodie or some sweats,” Lil Nas X says. “But they can honestly go with any daytime look.”
As for Lil Nas X’s future? After his Crocs release, the rapper is looking forward to the holidays — and may have another collaboration in the works, teasing that we’ll “just have to wait and see” what comes down the pipeline.
