Usher and his wife Jennifer Goicoechea coordinated black and white ensembles from Ralph Lauren Purple Label and Sergio Hudson, respectively, for the 2025 Met Gala on Monday highlighting the theme “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.”
Usher embraced dandyism with a classic three-piece tuxedo accented by formal touches like a white scarf, silver chain draped at the vest and a cane. Goicoechea, meanwhile, wore a fitted all-white suit look on top contrasted by black bell bottom pants and a black sash at the waist that trailed the floor. A large white flower adorned the corner of her jacket.
Usher’s look was rounded out by a pair of glossy reptilian embossed loafers with tassels adorning the upper. The slim silhouette featured a classic almond toe and low block heel. Contributing a subtle splash of color to his look, the shoes were accented by a pair of ribbed socks in a hue of royal purple in a nod to the Ralph Lauren line he wore. Goicoechea, meanwhile, wore a pair black pointed-toe shoes to complement her ensemble.
The 2025 Met Gala unfolded on May 5, the first Monday in May, at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City with the theme “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” which examines Black dandyism. Celebrity co-chairs included Colman Domingo, Pharrell Williams, A$AP Rocky and Lewis Hamilton; LeBron James was an honorary co-chair. This year, the philanthropic event raised $71 million for the Costume Institute, a record-breaking number for the Met Gala.
