Tyla dazzled in rich chocolate brown knee-high gladiator strappy sandals from Le Silla while attending the Essence Black Women In Hollywood Awards in Los Angeles on Thursday night.
Posing for pictures, the “Water” singer opted for a pair of the Sahara sandals from the brand, which were characterized by their dark chocolate brown color. Crafted with patent leather material, the shoes featured a knee-high design that works especially well with mini dresses and skirts.
Also included in the design was a square-toe upper, geometric straps adorned with gold-tone jewel buckles that locked the feet in place along with its closed-back construction and a 4.3 inch heel that rounded out the silhouette. The shoes retail for $1,591.
The shoes served as a compliment to her butter yellow form-fitting sequined mini dress, which showcased her toned legs and arms. The musician accessorized her look with a pair of faux gauge earrings, which further served as a highlight to her face-framing updo.
It’s no surprise that strappy sandals have been a popular choice for celebrities and influencers in 2025 thus far, as many brands such as Gucci, Stuart Weitzman and Christian Louboutin carry strappy sandals as a part of their footwear lineup, offering the style in many different forms. The silhouette first originated in the early 1900s, going through many variations over the years.
Tyla, herself, has chosen to wear them on plenty of occasions for different events over these past couple of years. For example, she was spotted in a similar gladiator-esque pair of Rihanna-inspired strappy sandals from DSquared2 in her music video for the song “Push 2 Start.” Dubbed the Riri Sandals, Rihanna was first spotted in them at a Travis Scott show in New York City in 2015.
Those shoes are crafted from black Python skin, and characterized by a lace-up design that extends up to the thighs, and laces that wrap around the legs. A few months prior, she was also seen in a pair of Rene Caovilla pink strappy sandals while attending the 2024 VMAs in New York City this past September.
Aside from its noteworthy pink design, the shoes were characterized by their square upper, slender bedazzled straps that wrapped around the foot a closed-back construction and a slender stiletto heel that ranged between 4-to-5 inches in height.
