Ice Spice is part of the movement bringing back fashion of the early aughts. The rapper, who was born on January 1, 2000, promoted her forthcoming debut album “Y2K!” on July 25 wearing a pink tracksuit by I.AM.GIA emblazoned with the title and Air Jordan 4s in the beloved Black Cat colorway.

Y2K fashion is experiencing a resurgence in recent years, with one prominent hallmark of the era including tracksuits, especially pink ones. The Bronx-born rapper fully embodied this aesthetic in the hours leading up to the release of her first album, set to drop at midnight on July 26.

Spotted outside the Empire State Building in midtown Manhattan, Ice Spice wore form-fitting light pink yoga pants which flared at the bottom, partially covering her sneakers; the set included a matching zip-up long sleeve top. The front of the shirt and the back of the pants read “Y2K” in black script, while black trim also accented the waistband of the pants and the bottom of the shirt.

The “Barbie World” rapper wore her hair in her signature shade of bright orange, sporting long wavy tresses that fell to her waist. Ice Spice further represented the Y2K era with a chunky silver chain necklace featuring a large butterfly centerpiece — butterflies are also closely associated with fashion of the 2000s.

Ice Spice rounded out the nostalgic pink and black color scheme with a coveted Nike sneaker, the Black Cat Air Jordan 4s. Drawing its moniker from a nickname for Michael Jordan, the shoes boast an all-black colorway and feature the Jordan 4’s distinctive silhouette and characteristics including “over-molded” mesh. Nike recently announced it will bring back the Black Cat colorway, blending new and classic features for the latest version of the shoe.
