Constance Wu was dressed for a celebration in New York City on Monday, the opening night of the Broadway show “John Proctor is the Villain,” wearing a shimmery dress and metallic platforms from Rachel Zoe.
Wu, who stars in the play alongside Sadie Sink, went with a cool color palette for the special occasion. She modeled a high shine sequined mini dress in a summery shade of sky blue. The dress featured a simple silhouette with adjustable spaghetti straps, a slightly rounded V neck and an above-the-knee hemline. The festive garment strongly resembled a design by Fleur du Mal. Wu’s accessories included a pair of silver hoop earrings which blended in with her blue and silver aesthetic.
Complementing her eye-catching sequined dress, Wu donned a pair of silver platform sandals, what looked to be the Ella style from Rachel Zoe. The shoes feature three partially connected horizontal straps stretching across the toes in addition to a thick ankle strap with a square buckle. The actress’ height was elevated by a thick block heel measuring several inches and a substantial platform which emboldened the silhouette in front. Zoe is an outspoken fan of platforms.
“When I go out, I’m in a platform, when I don’t go out, I’m in a platform. It’s funny, because I saw this headline of an article [that] said, ‘Platforms and sequins are back.’ I was like, ‘They’ve never left,'” Zoe said in 2023. “Just because all the designers are now making them again, I’m thrilled; it’ll be easier to find them.”
Wu’s taste in footwear is wide-ranging. When she attended Apex for Youth’s 32nd Inspiration Awards Gala in April 2024, for example, she complemented a sparkling silver gown with minimalist black sandals from Stuart Weitzman. In March, she attended the premiere of her movie “The Friend” wearing a pair of Bottega Veneta’s Leather T-Strap Pumps in white, along with a Gucci track suit.
