Emmy and Tony-winning actor Billy Porter touched down in London on Sunday to attend The Olivier Awards. The performer was there in his typical notable style.
Porter wore an ornate black headpiece as well as glitter eyeshadow. His suit was a velvet burnout style meaning that the fabric included parts with velvet and others without. The velvet was done in a variety of paisley designs. The blazer is double-breasted. He appeared to wear a pussy-bow blouse underneath with the bow protruding out of the neck of the blazer.
For shoes, Porter went with a style he often wears: heeled boots. The boots are made of black leather. They include a thick sole. In addition they have a thick block heel likely about three to four inches. The top of the boot isn’t visible under the trousers.
The shoes also include a rounded toe.
Porter often wears heeled boots. When he attended the Year in Time Dinner put on by Time magazine in December, he wore black leather heeled boots as well. Those styles also include a side zip. It is unclear if these are the same style. Even prior to that, when he attended the Brick Awards in November, he wore a pair of iridescent red boots. Those were also heeled and featured the stretch panels on the side as often seen in Chelsea boot styles.
In the past, he’s worn platform heeled boots from companies like Christian Louboutin, Gucci, Rick Owens, Syro, Jefferey Campbell and more. Those brands have served him for events like the White House Correspondents Dinner (he wore white crystal-embellished to the event last year) as well as the Legacy Gala. For the Legacy Gala he wore chunky Gucci platforms featuring a kiltie on the top as well as the Gucci brass hardware. He also wore that boot to a Global Black Pride Reception in Atlanta.
It’s poignant that he often wears heeled boots: Porter originated the role of Lola in the musical “Kinky Boots.”
