As Election Day draws closer, many brands are stepping up and using their platforms to encourage consumers to vote in the upcoming presidential election. From teaming with nonprofits to launching vote-inspired products, companies are stepping up their efforts this year more than ever before.
Here, we’ve rounded up companies that have voting-themed gear, many include charitable components. Check back for updates.
The direct-to-consumer brand Birdies launched its Vote Collection to help raise awareness and encourage women to register to vote. Teaming up with Danielle Stern of Leftys Right Mind, the five styles are hand-painted with symbols representing women’s journey toward voting. Designs include the word “empowered” in a soft script; a yellow rose, in honor of suffragists who wore the flower-shaped pin in 1920 during a rally in Nashville over whether to ratify the 19th Amendment; stars in purple, white and yellow as a nod to the women’s suffrage movement.
In addition, Birdies has partnered with Step Up, a nonprofit with the mission to help girls from under-resourced communities fulfill their potential by offering mentors, after-school programs and more. Birdies pledged $10,000 to the organization.
The Gap is encouraging voting this year with its new campaign, “Stand United.” Benefitting nonpartisan organizations When We All Vote and Rock the Vote, the campaign launched a collection of apparel and face masks inspired by the upcoming elections. The brand is encouraging all customers to register to vote in addition to providing a $25,000 donation to both nonprofits associated with the campaign.
Keds’ collaboration with founder and designer Rachel Antonoff was designed to promote social change and raise awareness for women’s rights. Launching on National Voter Registration Day in 2019, the Triple Kick platform shoe is detailed with the words “Hysterical Female” and encourages women to vote. The sneakers are still available.
Target is helping its consumers express their right to vote with its “Voting For the Future” t-shirt. And it’s accessible. Priced at $15, the scoop neckline tee is detailed in multi-color print and is offered in plus-sizes.
Through Nov. 3, Madewell is donating 100% of the purchase price of its “Vote” t-shirt to the American Civil Liberties Union. Along with donations from sales of the Vote collection, Madewell is also donating a minimum of $750,000 to support the ACLU. The tee is made-in-America.
Levi’s teamed up with Rock the Vote to register as many voters as possible for the fall election. The label also launched a Vote collection featuring an array of products, including men’s and women’s tees, hoodies, long-sleeves and a tote bag.
New York-based designer Nikki Kule is offering a Vote tee. For every piece sold, the brand will donate $20 to When We All Vote, an organization fighting for fair, safe and accessible voting for all Americans.
