Nov. 29. 2019: For Black Friday, #TOGETHERBAND is calling on all consumers to think before they shop, in the official launch of Goal 12 “Responsible Consumption and Production. The campaign is supported by British sustainable fashion designer Richard Malone, actress Rosario Dawson, supermodel Soo Joo Park, and ethical fashion campaigner Livia Firth. “Nothing should be considered luxurious that is harmful or exploitative,” says Malone, who uses fabrics made from upcycled fishing nets in his collections. “Sustainability is change in consumption habits, not a trend. We shouldn’t be harming our planet or our people.” The movement’s co-founder Cameron Saul agrees. “As we approach the gifting season, it is more important than ever to highlight the effect that fast fashion and irresponsible consumption is having on our planet,” he adds. Saul, with Oliver Wayman, is also co-founder of ethical British accessories brand BOTTLETOP.

Nov. 6, 2019: Thursday Boot Company has introduced a limited-edition collection of men’s footwear using leathers sourced exclusively from a single farm. The Single-Herd Indigo Vanguard boots are made in the U.S. by sourcing entirely from open range, grass-fed cattle raised at White Oak Pastures in Bluffton, Ga. White Oak is known for its regenerative farming, capturing 3.5 pounds of carbon for every 1 pound of beef raised. The hides are tanned into an exclusive leather, Indigo Chromexcel, by Horween Leather Co. in Chicago. The shoe, a Goodyear welted boot, is then made in a factory in Arkansas. Each pair includes a gift certificate from Crowd Cow, a marketplace for craft meats and distributor of White Oak products. The boot is available on Nov. 7 at Thursdayboots.com for $265.
