You soon will be able to buy refurbished Nike shoes.

The athletic powerhouse revealed Nike Refurbished today, its latest initiative in sustainability. The brand described it as a “fully circular consumer offering” where it will refurbish by hand gently worn, like-new or slightly imperfect footwear, both performance and lifestyle, in men’s and women’s sizing. According to Nike, this will extend access to the brand’s products at a value, which will be sold in select Nike stores.

Nike confirmed that up to 15 stores in the U.S. will offer its refurbished shoes by the end of April, with plans to expand into more of its doors in the coming year.

The Nike Refurbished process is simple. First, customers will return the shoes to Nike, which will then be inspected and graded by experts. Each eligible pair of shoes will then be cleaned and sanitized, and lastly the refurbished shoes will return to stores at a reduced price.

Beyond Nike Refurbished, the company revealed that it has aligned with Lyft for new e-bike and scooter docking e-stations in Portland, Ore., which will feature Nike Grind material. For instance, the rubber mats at the e-station will employ 25% Nike Grind rubber from footwear manufacturing scraps in the top layer, with 100% recycled tires in the bottom. (The Swoosh said the Nike Grind program has recycled more than 130 million pounds of post-consumer and post-industrial waste into new products with its partners since 1992.)

Nike stated it will launch 40 stations with Lyft, which it said is just the beginning, with further expansion planned for the second half of 2021 in Denver and Chicago.
