The furry shoe trend continues. BCBG Max Azria’s fall ’16 show featured loafer-style pumps with shearling accents, as well as architectural footwear silhouettes.
Designer Lubov Azria went for a darker color scheme this season (it is fall, after all). Compared to her Californian surfer collection from spring, the collection here was less bubbly and more brooding. Quilted leather skirts and slouchy trenches were paired with more men’s-y shoes.
Boyish loafer pumps in beige or black had shearling accents on the top of the vamp or covering the entire thick block heel. The shoes were paired with metallic speckled hosiery and leggings, a nice styling touch.
Crisscross sandals were bulkier in shape, with some of the low heels finished in a metallic silver. Considering the commerciality of a brand like BCBG, the runway experimentation with more unusual shapes here is encouraged. But it was hardly a brash statement, and could have been taken even further.
