Cobian Footwear And Flip Flop Shops To Launch Social Media Sweepstakes

Cobian Footwear and Flip Flop Shops are hoping to make some waves.

The two will partner on a social media sweepstakes — through Instagram and Facebook — that will send the winner on a five-day action adventure in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.

The winning prize includes a range of activities, such as snorkeling with whale sharks, deep-sea fishing, stand-up paddleboarding and surfing.

“We live to create innovative ways to free your toes and free your life, to promote a casual, healthy, stress-free lifestyle,” Brian Curin, president of the Flip Flop Shops franchise, said in a recent statement. “Since day one, Cobian has been an extremely valuable partner in bringing our vision to a global audience.”

Also part of the sweepstakes, called The Great Escape, is a chance to mingle with surfer and Cobian brand ambassador Bethany Hamilton, who survived a shark attack in 2003 and saw her personal story brought to life in the film “Soul Surfer.”

Bill Boyce, marine biologist and host of the NBC show “Destination: Baja Sur,” will also meet with the top prize winner.

The contest begins Friday and runs through May 31.

Flip Flop Shops has been broadening its reach with consumers this year. In January, Curin told Footwear News that the chain, acquired by Cherokee Global Brands last October, was focused on international expansion, new retail alliances and e-commerce.
