Usain Bolt made history once again on Sunday night at the Rio Olympics.

The Puma-sponsored Jamaican sprinter became the first person to win three straight gold medals in the 100-meter event. Bolt had a shaky start out of the blocks but was able to edge out American sprinter Justin Gatlin, who received a less-than-stellar reception from the crowd inside the stadium. Gatlin has twice served bans from track and field for doping.

Bolt ran the 100 in a time of 9.81 seconds. It was not his fastest, but it was enough to bring him another gold medal. After his win, he took off his eye-catching gold Puma spikes and ran around the stadium with a Jamaican flag, celebrating with fans and striking his signature “lightning bolt” pose.

Gatlin took the silver medal with a time of 9.89 seconds, and Canadian Andre Degrasse took bronze at 9.91 seconds.

Bolt will continue his hunt for more gold with the 200-meter semifinals on Tuesday, followed by the final on Thursday. The semifinal of the 4×100-meter relay is also on Thursday, with the final on Friday.
