Timberland and Betabrand, a crowdfunding company, have teamed up to create three crowdsourced product designs for Timberland’s newest collection called Craftletics.

The New Hampshire-based boot brand tapped its consumers in March to help design its Craftletic sneaker boot — with help from Betabrand. Timberland’s design collective specifically worked directly with consumers to develop first-to-market Timberland products through a co-creation process.

Consumers were asked to vote on one of three unisex trend concepts, weighing in on design elements from materials, color and gender. The categories include Urbanization, Neorganic and Modern Nomad — each an intersection of craftsmanship and athletic ease-of-wear. Timberland’s internal design collective sketched the shape and structure of 14 styles across three unisex boot categories.

The collection is slated for mass distribution in 2017, but shoppers are able to pre-order the Timberland Craftletic product now on betabrand.com and through select Timberland distribution points. Those who pre-order will receive the shoes in November.

The styles created feature the Timberland DNA with sneaker-like comfort. The three silhouettes available include the Sport Hiker, which is detailed with genuine grain brown leather; the City Hiker, which comes in gray nubuck leather; and the Slip-On Hiker, made with grain black leather with mesh uppers. All styles are water- and stain-repellent and include lightweight Aerocore technology soles.

The boots are available for $150, with a 10 percent discount in pre-order.
