Penelope Cruz is breaking down fashion barriers with an archival look. When the star attended the Feroz Awards in Madrid, she donned a red carpet favorite brand, Christian Louboutin, but the label’s Prive peep-toe platform style hasn’t been spotted in quite some time.

While the industry is embracing platforms again, single-sole heels and strappy looks (think Stuart Weitzman’s Nudist, Christian Louboutin’s Toerless heels and Sophia Webster’s Rosalind sandals) are typically fan favorites.

Cruz made a bold statement with her choice — and she’s not alone. From Lindsay Lohan in 2006 to Reese Witherspoon in 2009, Katy Perry in 2010 and Meryl Streep in 2012, the biggest and brightest names have worn the Very Prive look in the past, even if it was many years ago.
