Washington Redskins fans received the good news this week that DeSean Jackson could be returning to active duty after suffering a hamstring injury early in the season. And when Jackson does step out on the field, he’ll be wearing some fly new cleats.
The 28-year-old wide receiver announced a sponsorship deal today with Brandblack, a sportswear label that values fashion as much as performance. The three-time NFL Pro Bowler will join L.A. Clippers’ player Jamal Crawford on the brand’s roster as ambassadors of its apparel and footwear.
“This isn’t your average brand — it’s for those who like to stand out from the rest,” Jackson said in a statement. “It’s a perfect fit for me, and I am excited about my future with this forward-thinking company.”
On the field, Jackson will be playing in Brandblack’s DJX speed cleat, designed by company founder and lead footwear designer David Raysse.
“[The DJX] is a mid-cut speed cleat — something no one has done before,” Raysee said in the statement. “We created a very strong yet lightweight cleat that allows DeSean to explode off the line and make extreme lateral cuts without losing a step.”
Brandblack’s footwear collection consists of performance and lifestyle sneakers priced from $110 to $160. The brand is sold at select retailers, including Revolve Clothing, Need Supply, Bodega, Selfridges, Footaction, Champs and Finish Line.
